New Year's Eve Concert 2010

The 2010 New Year's Eve concert from Berlin frames two of the most prominent stars on DG's roster in the gilt-edged splendor these two young masters merit: "One in a million" mezzo (The Independent) Elîna Garanca, and the world's most sizzling conductor, Gustavo Dudamel.

Recorded live, this gala performance sparkles with a selection of arias and orchestral works that include excerpts from one of Garanèa's most celebrated roles, Bizet's Carmen, and a more reflective, lyric role, Marguerite in Berlioz's Damnation of Faust.

The Berlin Philharmonic makes a stirring contribution to the program with the overture to Berlioz's thrilling Roman Carnival and excerpts from Manuel de Falla's ballet, The Three-Cornered Hat.

Toby Keith: 10

Millions of viewers watching last month's American Country Awards on FOX saw Toby Keith honored with the Video Visionary Award. The trophy presentation was preceded, however, by a montage of clips that served as a stirring reminder of just how iconic his music videos have been. On March 8, music fans won't have to settle for the montage. The DVD release 10 collects exactly that many of Keith's most engaging videos, giving everyone the chance to see just how much the small screen loves Toby ... and vice versa. The Western imagery and story-telling of his debut single "Should've Been A Cowboy," his Willie Nelson collaboration "Beer For My Horses" and his latest "Bullets In The Gun" butts up against the fun and frivolity of "I Love This Bar" and "As Good As I Once Was." And Keith's never afraid to take a hard stand or drive home wry social commentary, as in "Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue" and "American Ride." In fact, of his literally dozens of major awards, 10 (fittingly) have been for his videos. The bulk of those videos derive from songs Toby penned himself, as is the case with all his music. And to further stake his claim as one of the most prolific and successful songwriter/artists of all-time in any genre, airplay spins of Keith's music have now surpassed 70 million, according to performing rights organization BMI. Few if any artists who are continuing to have hits can claim such a distinction. And Keith is, if anything, consistent in his ability to connect with audiences over the radio, through his records and in concert. His current single "Bullets In The Gun" is shooting up to the top of the charts. The album for which it serves as title track debuted at No. 1 all-genre. And his American Ride Tour was ranked as one of the year's top tours by Pollstar. Fans aren't the only ones noticing Keith's important place in American music. He's nominated for the Best Male Country Vocal Performance Grammy for his emotional tribute to his late friend Wayman Tisdale, "Cryin' For Me (Wayman's Song)." And on Jan. 29, Toby will return to the Grand Ole Opry stage eight years after his first and only performance there.
